Founded in 1963, The Chinese University of\nHong Kong (CUHK) is a forward looking, comprehensive research university with a\nglobal vision and a mission of combining tradition with modernity and linking\nChina with the West. CUHK teachers and students hail from all corners of the\nworld. We have over 20,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, of whom\n3,000 come from regions outside Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CUHK has a beautiful 137.3-hectare campus\noverlooking Tolo Harbour and it is the largest and greenest in Hong Kong.\nLocated north of Shatin Town, it takes less than 5 minutes to reach downtown\nShatin. Kowloon and Hong Kong Island sightseeing spots are located within 40\nminutes, and 20 minutes to the China Guangdong border at Lo Wu station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Shatin campus houses a range of\nfacilities essential for an all-round campus experience, such as world-class\nlibraries, art museums, music halls, a swimming pool, sports fields, tennis\ncourts, squash courts, a water sports centre and gymnasiums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Founded in 1963 under the joint auspices of\nNew Asia College and the Yale-China Association, the New Asia–Yale-in-China\nChinese Language Center (CLC) became part of the Chinese University of Hong\nKong (CUHK) in 1974 and has been responsible for the Chinese language education\nof CUHK students (both local and international) ever since. In 2009, CLC became\npart of the Faculty of Arts under the new name \u201cYale-China Chinese Language\nCentre\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CLC provides language training in Cantonese\nand Putonghua (Mandarin Chinese) to second\/ foreign language learners and\nChinese speakers. CUHK local and non-local undergraduates\/ postgraduates and\nexchange students are served by the University Programme Section, while other\nlearners are served by the Continuing Education Section of the Centre. The main\npurposes of the CLC\u2019s language courses are to enhance the Chinese language\nproficiency of students for communication in daily living and for professional\npurposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
