\n\nThe Three Gorges Dam is the first 5A-class tour sites in Yichang and has been listed as one of the first national demonstrations on industrial tourism. As the world largest hydropower project, the Three Gorges Project is located at the Zhongbao Island near Sandouping in Yichang, and about 37 km away from the Gezhouba Hydropower project in the downstream. The whole construction was completed according to the plan of \u201cfirst class development, complete construction, reservoir by stages, and continuous immigrants\u201d. The total construction period lasted for 17 years including three phases. The first phase was from 1993 to 1997; the second phase was from 1998 to 2003; and the third one is from 2004 to 2009. The total investment is estimated to be RMB 203.9 billion Yuan. The reservoir will submerge about 1.1318 million people to immigrate to higher place.
