Fudan University was established in 1905 as Fudan Public School. It was the first institution of higher education to be founded by a Chinese person. Fudan implemented a new model of continuous general education throughout the entire undergraduate studies and a talent cultivation system that accentuates innovation ability and inquiry skills.
There are 13,623 undergraduate students, 22610 graduate students. And there are more than 3000 international students from over 100 countries study with Fudan’s International Cultural Exchange School “mini United Union” every year.
International Cultural Exchange School, ICES, is the institution specialized in providing Chinese language and culture programs for international students in Fudan University. ICES has a pride history of more than 50 years of excellent international education since 1960’s. ICES has a remarkable faculty with various academic background ranging from literature, linguistics, culture study, history, philosophy to economy, management and international relations. ICES is home of 7 Confucius Institutes around the world and is appointed to be one of the first four bases of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages in China. They accept international students for long term and short term language programs, general advanced and other tailor-made programs. ICES also provide degree programs for undergraduates majoring in Chinese Language & Culture and Business Chinese, and for Master es majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. - SUMMER CHINESE LANGUAGE SCI PROGRAM
SUMMER CHINESE SCI Program is designed for the international students who want to learn Chinese language and get an insight into Chinese culture and people’s lives in China. The program allows students to enhance Chinese proficiency rapidly and get a unique and rich experience of Chinese society, custom and colorful culture.
- PROFESSIONAL CHINESE BUSINESS IMMERSION, PCI PROGRAM
Professional Chinese Business Internship Program is designed for the international students who want to get an insight into the business environment and industries development in China. The program allows students to get an insight into Chinese business culture and custom, policies, commercial law and regulations and how successful local and foreign businesses conduct themselves and prosper through special designed Chinese courses, business courses, mobile classroom, business internship practice. Students will be well equipped with language and business ability for future career development in China.
- LONG TERM CHINESE LANGUAGE PROGRAM
ICES adopts an unique model of instruction which has altogether 10 levels in Chinese learning, 4 levels (ABCD levels) in Fundamental, 4 levels (EFGH) in Intermediate and 2 levels (IJ) in Advanced. Each level takes about 9 weeks, students can finish 2 levels each semester in half a year. Students will get into appropriate levels according to the results of online placement test on arrival. ICES’s professional and experienced teaching staff ensure the most efficient teaching and learning.
- CHINESE ECONOMY & BUSINESS PROGRAM (Instructed in Chinese)
Chinese Economy & Business Program is designed for the students with intermediate or higher Chinese level, who want to get an insight into the business environment and condition in China. ICES’s professional and experienced teaching staff ensure the most efficient teaching and learning. The program allows students to get an insight into how successful local and foreign businesses conduct themselves and prosper. Students will be equipped for future business in China.
- CHINESE CULTURE & SOCIETY, CCS PROGRAM (Instructed in Chinese)
Chinese Culture & Society Programs, CCSP, is designed for the students with intermediate or higher Chinese level, who want to learn Chinese culture and experience Chinese society in China. ICES’s professional and experienced teaching staff ensure the most efficient teaching and learning. The program allows students to get a deep understanding of Chinese culture, literature, custom and Chinese contemporary society.
